Painted by Natalie Burke, this original piece portrays beautiful curved balconies on Holendrechtstraat, designed by Margaret Staal-Kropholler, the Netherlands first female architect. Using Black India Ink enhanced with watercolor and natural and traditionally ground pigments sourced from Verfmolen De Kat in Zaandam, this artwork aims to capture the harmonious balance of organic movement and mathematical precision characteristic of Amsterdam School architecture. The Amsterdam School is an architectural style that emerged in the early 20th-century in the Netherlands. It is known for its expressive brickwork, sculptural detailing, and dynamic, asymmetrical facades that seamlessly incorporate decorative elements into the building's structure. As you stroll through Amsterdam's streets, the influence of the Amsterdam School is evident everywhere. Measuring 23x32cm, this original artwork comes in a natural pine frame with a white matte, ready to add a touch of Amsterdam's unique expressive architecture to your space.
