I have been making art since I can remember soon after discovering glittering gold in the creek. I was called to be an artist. I could do nothing else. I was lucky to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts w/ honors, and worked as a professional advertisting photographer in Miami before returning to painting in 1999.
An old midwife from Alabama said "if the Good Lord wants you to do something, you won't have no good luck til you do." Now I paint everyday. For luck and love.
I am inspired by the wild eden earth and creeks of a small barrier island that reminds me of Eden. Much of my work now draws on portals to light, an image I find strong enough, with its references to birth and death and sexuality, to interest me indefinitely. I am working on a series on Eden now.
