About The Artwork
One of my own favourite paintings, Hominum is a small but powerful meditation about internal conflicts of men, symolized by the faces in the background. Those conflicts are perhaps the reason for people to move through time and act. The figure shown is a paraphrase of a photograph done by Eadweard Muybridge. I used the simple yet saturated palette for counterbalance against the size of the painting but also to grant the figure a presence which a photograph, especially a monochrome one cannot replicate.
