Honey Suckle Painting

***Available for acquisition, but unable to ship until June*** 'Honey Suckle,' references a song by indie art-rockers Xiu Xiu, where Angela Seo contributes her writing and vocals to a song for the first time since joining the line-up. Though the tone of the song is somewhat upbeat, the lyrics describe what seem to be struggles with depression and apathy. Thinking of emotions as temporary states, I often diffuse intensity with the comical or banal. In this case, I've adorned Angela with a bouquet of floral doodles to play off of her ice cold gaze, and to play off the name of the piece. What relationship the original song has with the Honeysuckle flower is beyond me, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would begin with the name of the flower being a reference to the sweet nectar it contains, and how the concept of it having to be sucked away may have been the impetus for Angela's choice of symbolism.
