ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this captivating cityscape, the artist pays homage to the iconic Brooklyn neighborhood where the streets of Fulton and Classon converge. The scene is masterfully rendered in oil, capturing the essence of urban life with a touch of Edward Hopper's signature style. The painting portrays a moment in time when the city's rhythm seems to pause, inviting viewers to contemplate its beauty and enigmatic charm. The crisp, blue sky overhead forms a backdrop for dramatic, billowing clouds, creating an intriguing contrast between the familiar and the mysterious. The artist's use of light and shadow gives the scene a dreamlike quality, drawing you into a world of soft, mesmerizing hues. Like Hopper, they evoke a sense of longing and introspection, inviting you to explore the emotions hidden within the city's bustling streets. This piece is a visual symphony of Brooklyn's urban character, a testament to the enduring influence of Edward Hopper, and a reflection of the artist's exceptional talent in capturing the soul of a city through their brushwork.

My journey into the arts began in the heart of New York City, where I was born in 1991. From an early age, I was captivated by the urban landscape that surrounded me. This fascination grew as I immersed myself in the study of art, attending Lehman College and later refining my skills at the Pratt Institute. My time at these institutions, combined with my induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, solidified my passion for both academic excellence and artistic expression. My artistic path has always been influenced by a blend of styles and inspirations. Drawing from the works of Edward Hopper, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso, my art is a fusion of realism and impressionism, shaped by the desire to capture the raw energy and nuanced beauty of urban environments. My love for oil painting allows me to explore the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in cityscapes, revealing the layers of complexity that make up urban life. After years of honing my craft, my work is a reflection of my personal journey and artistic evolution. It embodies a synthesis of influences and techniques, melding the linear brush strokes and precise three-point perspective of realism with the emotive, textured impressions found in some of my pieces. My goal as an artist is to amalgamate these seemingly opposing styles, creating a visual language that speaks to the heart of city life—its vibrancy, its contrasts, and its ever-changing nature. Today, with over 12 years of experience, my art is a celebration of the urban landscape, a dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary. It is an exploration of my own identity and a testament to my desire to become a full-time fine artist, dedicating my life to the pursuit of capturing the essence of city life in all its forms.
