This ichthyocentaur, Aphros, is inspired by the showers in many second rate hotels, the statues of the Louvre and Vatican and the Fountain of the Centaurs in the grounds of the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City. Ichthyocentaurs were a race of sea-gods with the upper body of a human, the lower front of a horse, the tail of a fish, and lobster-claw horns on their heads. The two best-known were Bythos (Sea-Depths) and Aphros (Sea-Foam). These two sea-gods, though little remembered, were set in the sky as the astronomical constellation Pisces. They are related to centaurs, sea nymphs and merfolk, and these sea-centaurs were thought to be peaceful water-dwelling creatures; they tend to hold great value for their family and friends. Most of the time they are able to get along with other water-dwelling races. Because this type of race is still related to the wild nature of their centaur cousins, some of them still elicit harsh behaviour, although not as much as the centaurs. The ichthyocentaurs' relationship with the nymphs allowed them to live for centuries, having them tend to be aware of many situations in the sea. They have the ability to both breathe underwater and swim with great speed and they also have more physical stamina than any of the other aquatic races. However, they still have not mastered the hotel shower! 424-

I am a full-time artist, living in the south of France.I paint what I like, but I hope others like them enough also to buy them. I enjoy undertaking commissions and competitions as these challenge me to focus on someone else's perspective. Shape, form, colour and composition all interest me. I paint in numerous styles, with a freedom and a humour that is my watermark. Many of my works are landscape and abstract paintings in oils and acrylic, but my collection of people and surreal still show that exuberance of colour, composition and subject. I am inspired by nature, man-made forms and the humdrum, and I like my art to hint at a story or conundrum. My paintings are distributes around the world. Only about half of my current collection is in this gallery, please get in touch with me, or visit my web-site, to see more works for sale or sold. I welcome personal visits from collectors and I am also keen to find permanent gallery locations in North America, Europe mainland and Britain for my paintings.
