A couple of years ago I made this artwork for an exhibiton in The Hague. I am a member of the renowned artists ' Association Pulchri Studio in the centre of The Hague. I participated in a show called : Fragility. I made this work of art in response to an image from a book by a colleague who is photographer and made a book about all centenarians. This woman struck me because-as there was in the description-she always kept her eyes closed. Because she was too tired of watching. She seemed to me very fragile. So I made this painting of this very old lady.

1953, IJmuiden, Netherlands. Im an abstract-figurative painter, working in oil and acrylic. Themes: Nature / Flora Artist statement. The works you see here are inspired by nature in a broad sense. In recent years, during the various lockdowns, I, like many others, have had the peace and concentration to look at my environment with new eyes and discover how beautiful nature is. I live nearby a park and a nature reserve and that gave me a lot of inspiration to make a series of canvases that portray the beauty of what I saw there to depict in paint. I hope you enjoy it! I am inspired at the artists whom I greatly admire: Willem de Kooning, Luc Tuymans, Gerhard Richter, Michael Borremans, Jan Mankes, Adrian Ghenie.
