About The Artwork
Inspired by an artist friend, what started out as an homage to minimalist abstraction became an commentary on gender, success, and art history. Who decides our culture, and why is the archive so narrow? Painted very quickly in acrylic the surface shows pervious layers and workings but maintains a spontaneity and freshness of brush strokes. Very much influenced by the German Neo-expressionists of the 1980's I value the use of humour to transgress serious subject matters and the historical context in which art operates.
