“I Like Large Parties, they’re So Intimate” Painting

I am a Houston based, self taught artist. In my work I use colors, shapes, lines, and splashes intuitively based on moods and emotions. Whether that be joyous, or gloomy, or anywhere in between. With an idea, I trust that I will see the emotional journey unfolding with each layer and it will guide me to the next layer until I reach contentment. Using different tools, and mediums helps me on this journey and I frequently find myself stepping back or away to aid the flow of the process instead of hindering it. I work to let myself go, to focus more on the connection of the colors and marks rather than the constant urge for perfection that I always find myself battling. My work is always evolving, but continues to connect to color with emotion. My hope is that the viewer feels the dreaminess, the battle, the joy, in a way that they are able to also connect with the art.
