I'll Be Back Painting

This painting was inspired by the idiosyncratic nuances of making signage at the reception desk in an office. The sign, created on the computer, then displayed in its final form can be seen as reminiscent of an artist in their studio. The tools of creation on view, not hidden by the final product. The idea of creating a sign to say "I'll be back," granting the worker/office participant freedom to leave is an act of liberation which I connected to the rapture of Dionysus. Dionysus, appears silkscreened in the left of the painting, directly from Carrivagio's painting of Dionysus as a youth. The reaction to corporate office culture as stifling and is reacted against in a move toward expression and liberation -- the computer is on a blaze, the desk is empty and who knows when they'll be back.
