I Should Be Home By The Time This Card Gets There Painting

The pink and blue color combination are calming, while the collage elements and scribbles create intricate movement and texture. The title is pulled directly from the postcard, a line we’ve seen many times before and stirs something in our hearts. This is the only painting in the series to feature spray paint. As with most of us, my home and work life shifted dramatically while under quarantine. Every morning I went into the studio for an hour of personal work time. I created a morning routine that involved movement, music, journaling, and painting. Slowly, day after day, this collection came to fruition. Centered on a collage cloud made with a single vintage postcard, this collection explores concepts of communication over distance, handwriting as human touch, physical and implied textures, small moments of clarity within chaos, and a balance of construction and destruction. The sides are painted to match the front paintings. The piece comes wired and ready to hang.
