ABOUT THE ARTWORK

60" x 60" | ready to hang | mixed media on birch “Flowers have always had important things to teach us about time”. -Michael Pollan This series represents my lived experience of walking the ancient pilgrimage trails of El Camino de Santiago from France to Spain. While on the Camino, I was able to fill a small sketchbook of impressions and drawings. After returning to home and studio I have enjoyed fleshing out the simple drawings into a series of paintings that encompass the physical and spiritual experience - sharing how it felt to be there.

Patricia DeLeon is a fine artist who focuses on human and natural forms as the primary subject within her work. Born in Caracas, Venezuela. Working intuitively with oils, acrylics, graphite and gold leaf, DeLeon creates multi-media works which fuse the acts of painting and drawing. Over time the work's multi-layered surface suggests a sense of an illuminated space. With lyrical scrawls, deep scratches and patterned mark making, her work delves into how the visible and invisible—the material and spiritual—intertwine in human experience.
