MUSI’s work opens a space for you to stand at a universal threshold. Mexican and self-taught, he has spent more than three decades navigating depths of colour and form. Tracing what stirs within and flows onto the canvas. Not confined by trends, he carves his own path. Each series he paints becomes a role he inhabits. A mask that breathes, an actor playing with time and memory. Contours of his evolution expressed in childhood drawings, crooked lines or stains that wanted to dance. What is most prominent is the determination: the stroke that carries weight and lifts off the canvas into an expressive realism that does not explain but lets you feel. Drawing you in and pointing towards the greatness that already exists within all of us. His work challenges established ideas with a force that guides the viewer through a living realism. His ambition is to trigger a turn, a push or a plunge into new depths and possibilities. His paintings open the viewer up and suggest enquiries about human potential, existence and the universe. As a child he grew up surrounded by musicians, writers, filmmakers, doctors and scientists. They taught him that history is not only told: it is felt and painted. First came dance, then athletes and Olympians: endurance, inner strength and overcoming. Every body, every gesture, every line becomes a landscape and narrative. Something not simply seen, but felt. For more than three decades, MUSI has carried his projects from the first spark of idea to the exhibition space. His work has travelled across Mexico, Argentina, Switzerland, the United States and the United Kingdom, and has gained strength through collaborations with dance companies such as Candoco Dance Company and Ballet Black, as well as with athletes and Olympians from different continents. He has been presented by Saatchi Art at The Other Art Fair in London. From intimate series such as Scenes in a Black Taxi to large-scale projects like The Bodhisattvas of the Earth and The Ceremony in the Air, his practice has grown in ambition, technique and reach. His recent proposals for Los Angeles 2028 — A Global Portrait of Olympians and Paralympians and From the Ground Up — confirm this expansion: a visual language that speaks to our time and inspires our progress. MUSI engages creativity as healing, belonging and inner strength.
