Artist Biography – Mónica Rivero My name is Mónica Rivero. I have painted all my life. Even in my darkest moments, art held me up. I don’t paint to decorate—I paint to reveal. Each piece is born as a nearly mediumistic act, as a channel of something greater that flows through me. Art is not a choice: it is my spiritual breath. My painting is symbolic, emotional and deeply intuitive. I paint what the soul remembers, even when the mind forgets. I work with acrylics, inks, recycled materials, MDF, large- format canvases and non-traditional supports. My technique emerges from silence and inner listening. For years I worked in Buenos Aires, where I directed an art gallery and created a large-scale installation called El Espejo (The Mirror), exploring the connection between Africa and America. At the time, I signed the work with my married name, D’Alessandro, as a symbolic tribute. Even though I sensed the end of that relationship, I chose to honor through art what had also shaped me. Today, I know it was a gesture I would not repeat—but it was sincere. And sincerity endures. My work does not seek to please. It seeks to stir. It carries memory, rupture, and redemption. I also write visual poetry and have begun compiling texts and paintings under the title The Search for a Place Forever. I currently live in Como, Italy, near the Swiss border. I work from a simple space, but it is full of soul. I don’t have a perfect studio—but I have truth. And I’m ready to share what I carry.
