Icon of the Mother of God with the Infant Jesus Christ. Painting

The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos with the Child is painted in the traditional canonical Old Russian style. It is made according to ancient technologies. The production of the icon was carried out taking into account ancient and modern technologies. The painting was done with many thin layers using natural pigments and egg emulsion. The board is covered with linen and washed chalk, and animal glue is used here. The coating is called "gesso". Linden board, well dried, is the basis for painting. On the front side, the “ark” is a symbolic depression on the board, which is both a frame and a protective barrier to preserve the paint layer. On the reverse side of the board are two oak veneers. Upon completion of the painting, the icon is covered with a layer of natural varnish and a protective layer of varnish. The back side of the icon is covered with an antibacterial protective coating. The icon was painted in 2006.
