Alex Dibakwane is a South African artist primarily based in Pretoria, specialising in painting and printmaking. Dibakwane's love for art has always been there since his formative years. Which lead him to study art at a tertiary level. He currently studies at the Tshwane University of Technology for a diploma in Fine and Studio Arts. Growing up having to move from home to home Dibakwane was subjected to learning the harsh realities of being in lower middle class and how this affects people around him. Dibakwane saw people drowning in envy and guilt, leading them to neglecting religion and seeking revenge. Dibakwane learnt the importance of religion/spirtuality through this and set out to make people aware of the good and evil that resides within the world. Dibakwane's approach to art is very simplistic but symbolic as he uses contour lines to create form. These forms create a balance between reality and spirituality. His work heavily influenced by his day to day experiences and Dibakwane portrays these experiences with a spiritual lens.
