Iluka Painting

The name 'Iluka' is a local Aboriginal word meaning 'near the sea' this painting is inspired by the foreshore park surrounding the coastal pathway at Iluka,on the rim of the Indian Ocean south of Perth, Australia. At dusk the grey colors of the vegetation become quite intense, creating a dreamlike landscape. As a city dweller I seek this intense connection with nature; the spiritual experience and the feeling of nature as a conscious aesthetic. In my painting I have mimicked the dreamlike feeling of being in the landscape by offering a close and distant perspective and simulating the early evening colors of the vegetation as the sunsets.
