It's been a year since Trapped/困 completed. I've made an effort neither to be overly political as an artist nor to confine myself to a certain style/execution of making art. However, as time passes, knowledge gains, there are matters hard to ignore - I present you Imprisonment/囚. A portrait of Chinese human rights activist Liu XiaoBo made up entirely of the Chinese character 囚(imprisonment) and a big red star plastered over his eyes. One single 困(trapped) written in the middle of his mouth. Characters written in Chinese Ink, Pastel background black & white stripes to create an old Hollywood style faded prison garment - at times comical but NEVER funny. Ultra thick red acrylic as the red star.

Being an artist is being HONEST. To be HONEST to who I am, what I see, how I feel for this world. The never ending pursuit of one's identity - where I am running from and to simultaneously. Art is personal, again.
