About The Artwork

There is a short but wonderful time in the middle of autumn: when the summer heat subsided, the trees were covered with openwork of golden foliage, in the evenings fog fills the lowlands with thick milk and cobwebs fly in the air. Evenings come quickly, bringing chilliness and a feeling of approaching winter. And suddenly there comes a short week with warm and clear days. They are somewhat similar to summer ones, but not so hot and much shorter. The knowledge that this will soon pass makes them especially precious. So, in the life of a woman at the turn of 45, an exciting period of a new sense of herself suddenly begins. By this point, everything seemed to be settled down: home, family, work, friends. Youthful passions and dramas have passed, throwing from side to side in search of yourself has ended. Everything slowly fell into place. Looking at your husband with the loving eyes of a close relative, it never occurs to you to commit an act of incest with him. And now your close girlfriends begin to share their stormy romances with you, and you suddenly notice that you are not indifferent to signs of attention from strangers. Then, for some reason, you buy yourself a red defiant dress on the Internet that you would dare to wear at the turn of 16-18 years old and wait, wait ... we call this time “Indian summer”. The painting depicts a woman in a red dress lying on a carpet of blooming pink tea roses. A white rabbit runs away from her. Next to the woman and the rabbit lie pink questions: “Was there love? and will it be again?

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
