Dick Steenhuisen (Zutphen, 1961)Step by step he develops an image from observation, built up from many layers of oil paint. Often central to this are contrasts such as beauty and strength versus decay and volatility, expressed in urban and industrial landscapes. Together with 15 painters from Rosmalen and the surrounding area, Dick forms the painting collective “Toenk”. In 2007 Dick reached the finals of the visual arts prize of the NPS and the Volkskrant in the Van Abbe Museum (Eindhoven) and in 2011 a work was selected for the semi-finals.
