ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is the first of a series of large paintings depicting the face of a young girl translucently embedded into a background of natural forms. It suggests many themes to me, one of which is highly personal, but may be interpreted by the viewer as a statement about the invisibility of girls, as well as their closeness to the natural world. It is not a specific portrait of a girl but meant to be a conceptual image of girlhood.
