ABOUT THE ARTWORK

From Neruda’s love sonnet XLII, Radiant days rolling on the water, intense as the inside of the yellow rock, it’s blender like honey: that wasn’t damaged by all the turmoil.

Rachelle currently lives and works in New Mexico. Her work emerges spontaneously and she follows her intuition as she resolves a painting. She loves the resiliency and room for movement painting contains. With a background in sculpture and clay, she is inspired especially by the process of creating and the feel of materials as she manipulates them and watches transformation. She Incorporates found objects like lace, wood, stones, and reusable materials that would otherwise be useless. She is inspired deeply by the artists Rothko, Rauschenberg, Diebenkorn, Twombly, Helen Frankenthaler, Barbara Hepworth, and Chagall. She appreciates the new opportunity each painting brings to express and explore, and loved to mix intense colors to create a beautiful whole.
