Part of my new three-part photography series #Instagramania, reflecting on the impact of social media on ourselves and the world around us ... The most beautiful spaces on earth get destroyed because people share those treasures and hidden gems with the world, and as a result, they get rolled over by those fellow ‘photographers’ … People, products, stories … are classified, categorized and valued by if they are ‘instagramable’ … Being ‘instragramable’ becomes a currency for all sorts visual – if we like it or not … And, as Instagram is about filters, I used heavy filtering. It’s my way to play with the most famous places, the hidden gems and the new way of self-obsession on Instagram – in a way, they become abstract, surreal and ‘non-instagramable’ any more … Well, I could (and might) post them anyway … First shown at my solo exhibition at erstererster gallery, Berlin, Germany from 30 Oct till 03 Nov 2019 ...
