Jill Segal is an award winning professional artist and accomplished art teacher. She lives in Toronto,Canada and spends the winter months in Naples, Florida. She conducts demonstrations, classes and workshops, in acrylic painting, collage and a combination of yoga and painting, for numerous art associations and educational institutions, locally and internationally. She is on the Faculty of The Haliburton School of the Arts Summer College, the Naples Art Association and the Centers for the Arts, Bonita Springs. She has co-facilitated many workshops on spirituality and creativity, and has taken groups of artists on painting trips to Peru, and South Africa. Jill’s acrylic and mixed media paintings express her fascination with the natural beauty of the world around her. Her paintings are celebrations of life, reflecting the inherent energy in nature and the interconnectedness of all things. Jill’s style is bold, colourful and expressionistic She uses collage and other interesting textures, to capture the essence of her subject matter. “I love to travel and have journeyed to many of the sacred sites of the world. These, include awe inspiring places, often designated as “Pilgrimage Sites” where I and others have experienced a feeling of transcendence and harmony with the Cosmos. Many of these sacred sites have intriguing portals and passageways, symbolic of life’s cycles and transitions. I have been greatly inspired by the mystical and spiritual energy experienced in these places, also by the ancient carvings and petroglyphs found there. This inspiration is often reflected in my abstract paintings. My art, like my life is not about the destination. It is about the process and the journey.” Jill has participated in many juried and non-juried shows and is represented by galleries in Ontario, and in the Caribbean. Her paintings are in collections in Canada and internationally. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and a signature member of the Toronto Watercolour Association. .
