The current work, entitled Internal L. Universe, began in late 2018 and is another painting series in Internal Landscape. In the course of expressing the abstract natural world within the inner world of humans through Internal Landscape, I realized that there is something much bigger than the natural world within us. I saw this as the universe. In other words, each of us has his/her own world and universe in the inside. This individual universe takes on different forms and colors depending on the person’s values or worldviews. Internal L. Universe, which is in contact with the natural world inside me, is a series of my universe expressed on the basis of a new form of abstract nature created from accepting the colors of real nature into my inner world and recombining them into my own colors and forms. The works in this series portray the entire image of the expanding universe. Just as the real universe continues to expand, the individual universe within respective people is expanding all the time. As our values grow stronger and our thoughts grow deeper to make our inner world more mature, our universe continues to expand. In order to express this expandability, I set limits on forms, details, or frame as much as I can in my works. This is a decided difference from my previous series Internal Landscape. In my previous series, I focused on expressing the complexity and intricacy of my inner natural world by incorporating forms and details as much as possible. However, in this series, I boldly removed such forms. The works, therefore, reflect my intent of not confining any part of the work. In that context, I did not use a frame in the series. I took away the frame that confines the painting so that it feels as if the work is expanding beyond the canvas indefinitely. In the final stage of working on a piece, I spray colors of different concentration to pursue the effects created from mixed or blown water droplets instantly occurring in the air. The shapes and details in the work are not inserted artificially but are created naturally in the process of spraying the colors in this final stage. I would say that Internal L. Universe series emphasizes spontaneous coincidence in many respects. Therefore, given my work process and method, I am unable to recreate an identical piece of work. Each piece is the only one in this world, and hence, unique and special. In my work, I create my own vision of nature based on the feelings I have always had about nature. Also, when I paint these paintings, I focus on color transition with a variety of color to bring out the emotions that color has. Every color has its own unique feel. Nevertheless, the emotions people feel from colors are different for everyone. Therefore, they cannot be defined in one way or another. But completely new emotions created in response to colors mixed and changed settle in the mind of all people in respectively different ways. There are many elements in paintings that give us a powerful impression and I believe that color must be one of the major factors. Color is the most important aspect of my art; it is above all other things.
