ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In its essence, this piece is a reflection of life; that which has remained undefeated by the immense forces of natural selection. It was inspired by an encounter with a stag upon reaching the crest of a hill in the Scottish highlands. Unlike a normal encounter with a deer, this one remained still, observing me in close proximity as I observed it. The experience left me with an overwhelming feeling; my aim was to enrich the canvas with the same sense of transcendence and majesty, displaying nature in its highest form.
