Tomislav Petranovic (also known as Rvat or THOMA) was born in village of Prvca, near Nova Gradiska in Croatia, in 1934. He graduated from the Art Department of the Teacher Training College in Zagreb in the class of professor Mladen Veza.(today is a part of Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb) Tomislav Petranovic persued caricature, design, stage design, acting, satire etc.He started painting in 1966, and is professional painter since 1972. Critics consider his work to be oneiric, labeling it as poetic surrealism. Tomislav Petranovic Rvat-Thoma took part in some 100 group exhibitions and held around 30 one-man exhibitions.His works are part of many museums, galleries and significant public & private collections worldwide. In year 2016/17, Nova Gradiska Town Museum hold retrospective exhibition "50 paintings for 50 years of painting". During same event the monograph (also in English) written by Academic & Art Writer Tonko Maroevic was published!
