This is another painting in a series taken from a trip I took to the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon in 2020. This view shows a path that winds through the woods taking you up to the top of the hill where the delicate and maintained Japanese Garden sits. To go up you must take a path that winds back and forth for a while until you reach the summit. This view also shows the different types and textures of trees that filled the woods while the sun rays flowed through and highlighted some growing right at the foot of another tree.

I'm a Twin Cities based visual artist with a studio in the Northeast Minneapolis arts district located in the Casket Arts Building. I create both figurative and abstract works mainly in oil and ink with a focus on strong light and contrasting light effects. I like to create environments in my paintings that tell a story and create a mood or emotion, often eliciting feelings of calm, nostalgia, and wonder.
