About The Artwork
I spotted this compelling arc of trash about a 1/4 mile from my studio in the Catskill mountains. I photographed it from different angles and decided to make a large triptych of it. My painting references the beautiful level of detail in the painting of Joan of Arc by Bastien LePage at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. The trash whispers its shocking message with a similar delicacy as that of the angels almost invisible in the trees above Joan.
