I am burned by the solstice a degeneracy error A Profane Abnormality I do not belong anywhere Somebody tell me what I do here I'm a mongrel misunderstanding Between plebeians and slaves I am clinging to the chains of oppression And free to the laziness of the laity The dark colors say not one of them The light colors say I'm not one of them I'm a dead bastard. I'm embarrassed as my hair But golden as the color of my skin I am the daughter of the earth. Day after day i harvest my destiny I have the strength of the baobab roots And the pragmatism taught I perfume the hay in me From the barns where I work In the morning, butcher's shop, I prepare the dinner at night I am an alien joy E An educated sadness Faded my mulatto estate And I was what had to be "
