Title: "Head, 2017" It is framed and ready to hang in your home or your gallery. Frame size: 19x23 inches. The painting is signed in the front and titled, dated and signed in the reverse. This is a Chemigram. Look it up! I've been doing them for a long time. I never knew the name of this medium until recently. While I was making this for almost 10 years without any outside influence my style became more developed and streamlined than other artists who rely on the element of chance most of the time. This is a result of my combination and manipulation of different chemicals, mostly darkroom photo developer, fixer, and other unconventional household liquids. Everything is done camera-less overexposed photographic Kodak black and white paper and in plain daylight. The result is a combined painting technique using an alternative photographic process. Do Not get confused with the rest of my work that is done on digital photo paper using color inks. The process is completely different as well as the final outcome. You would not believe the beauty of this piece when you take it in your hands. The pictures don't do justice to the real thing. If you search about Jose Tonito you will find plenty of information about myself and my art as well as videos of me creating some of the paintings.

Born in Havana, Cuba in 1961, José Tonito Rodriguez came to the United States in 1978 and currently lives in Florida. His early career as a photographer significantly shaped his current work. Using photographic paper, color inks, and an array of unconventional techniques, his images have a uniquely organic, exploratory feel. What he calls “accidents” splatter and sprawl across the paper, revealing themselves to him as he follows and urges them forward into other-worldly forms. Influenced by the forces of nature, he imagines the creation of rivers and lakes as he works, sometimes visualizing how clouds or even micro-organisms might behave under a microscope. The artist’s experiments tease the viewer into discovering “hidden, magical worlds” within our own imaginations.
