About The Artwork

The diptych "Jumpers" belongs to a series in which different stories take place in the same time and space within an environment ("the breakwater" of A Coruña). The jumpers are a group of young people who chat and enjoy the summer, fearlessly jumping into the water. The ink strokes evoke the memory of that moment, with black and white representing the transition of memory and color symbolizing the present. Work that participated in the collective exhibition of the 56th Queen Sofia Prize for Painting and Sculpture, Casa de Vacas del Parque del Buen Retiro during the month of September 2021, in the presence of Queen Sofia.

DIGITAL ART: I present a work where the environment and daily life are its stage. Things like “murmurs”, “looks”, “waves”, “social exclusion” or “refugees” become shapes that are full of light, colour and expression. Works that are created in a very particular and original way, in which artistic techniques are part of the execution of the proposal. The driver among them is a graphics tablet, which fuses them in a personal and unique result. They are proposals that reject exhibiting skills with digital tools. The intention is just to expose a personal approach to some ideas with total freedom. The oil or acrylic painting, pencil drawing, watercolour, photography or engraving that participate in the compositions can be part of the textures, of the shadows or the profile of the image. The important thing is what is “said”, but “how” it’s said is also very important. Works are presented in large format because each line, each dot or even colour is studied to the maximum of its possibilities. If a brush stroke on a canvas defines the personality of the artist, in this work - textures, lines, points are indeed analyzed... - we will see the artist’s signature. The work is unviable in a small format because it would not be her work and her singularity would not be appreciated as a whole. It is a new path in which her development would be impossible without her prior knowledge of traditional techniques. It is not a photograph because the idea is in the artist’s head, it’s born, sketched and developed into the result that can be seen in the different pictures. It is a search for artistic expression beyond a moment, or rather, each theme, each work has been developed during a thousand instants. As a culmination of the process, the production of the works. Each theme is produced with the highest technology and in the most appropriate format. It takes place in a specialized centre in which each work is treated individually, a unique production control, and they aren’t published until the desired result is achieved. PAINTING My creations as a graphic artist have developed in parallel to graphic design, researching in different artistic disciplines to find a link between digital art and traditional art: it is the approach in a digital medium to painting.
