Nadya Rego is the founder of Contemporary Surrealistic Impressionism. Born in the USSR, Nadya was raised in the culture capital, Saint Petersburg, one of most beautiful European cities. Surrounded by this beautiful heritage of artistic excellence, she was inspired to become an artist and designer. She began painting in 1995, completing studies in Art School with her talented brother, Nikolay Petrov. After graduating Saint Petersburg University, she successfully practiced industrial and interior design, creating elegant interiors for residential dream homes and upscale businesses. During her many years of design work, she also diligently perfected her artistic talent, leading to a well-rounded sense of composition, color, and aesthetics. Nadya has worked in various styles over the years, including Classic Art and Right Brain Drawing, culminating in the creation of her own Contemporary Surrealistic Impressionism painting style. She was particularly inspired by the works of Salvadore Dali, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso. To Nadya, art is about using color and texture to create a sense of passion and beauty, drawing the spirit into the picture. The main elements of her style are expressive, vibrant color that reflects the emotional tone of the subject, loose brush strokes that allow the paint to look like paint, and a dream-like mood. Her work is sensual and vibrant, yet has a softness to the edges that invite the viewer to rest in the painting and daydream. Large surfaces are indicated by dynamic outlines which gives the work an intangible quality, allowing the viewer to fill the ethereal spaces of the painting with imagination.
