ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I act as if I don't care if people dislike me. Deep down I secretly enjoy it. - Wednesday Addams In the central point of the painting, we see a portrait of Wednesday, a character known from The Addams Family, famous for her dark and eccentric personality. Her face is depicted in a realistic manner, reflecting her character's distinctive expression and dark aesthetic. However, what makes this portrait stand out is the tattoo placed on her neck, which contrasts with her dark nature, presenting an element of Pop-art ease and humor. Below Wednesday's portrait is a neon sign reading "Keep Smiling", which adds an element of surrealism and irony to the entire work. This statement is at odds with Wednesday's personality and the overall tone of The Addams Family, which is known for its dark humor and cynicism. The neon sign creates a clear contrast to the darkness of Wednesday, thus emphasizing the funny and satirical aspect of the artwork.

The artist was born in Opole. There, in 2010-2015, she studied at the Faculty of History and Pedagogy of the Opole University at the Institute of Art department, obtaining a master's degree in photography and graphic design studio. She belongs to the Union of Polish Artists. The artist has recently focused on classical art, drawing from the grace of ancient marble sculptures and the depth of mythology, while also incorporating the dynamic energy of pop art. This combination gives the artist a wide spectrum of subject matter to explore. The chosen technique for this style is unconventional; the artist exclusively utilizes paints derived from linseed or safflower oil to depict figures, purposefully abstaining from superfluous solvents. The sole medium employed is pure walnut oil, serving both as a substance for mixing paint during the creative process and as a natural cleansing agent for brushes. "In my recent paintings, I focus on silhouettes and portraiture, capturing contemporary and historical figures set against vibrant, distinctive backdrops. These figures are surrounded by textures and elements inspired by luxurious fashion collections from renowned high-end designers. Monochromatic figures are the focal point, complemented by a series of contrasting elements featuring unpredictable motifs." - says.
