The print is triple mounted. Main colour is black, with a slither of light grey, followed by a slither of dark grey. Signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity Keith Richards is my first piece of work which has led to several other portraits in my definitive style; Kate Moss, Noel Gallagher, Steve McQueen, Shaun Ryder and Madonna I was inspired to do Keith as a gift for my husband who is a great fan of the Rolling Stones and everything rock 'n' roll. I drew the image first in pencil, then after observing the way the light catches Keiths face, I began to paint using gouache to achieve the crisp lines and velvety depth. At first the image could be mistaken as computer generated but when the viewer takes a closer look, one notices the brush strokes. My discipline lies within Psychology and Art. It has been said that our 'self' is a plethora of personalities. Nothing is black and white only mere shades of grey. These grey fragmented jigsaw style pieces can be said to represent those different personalities which make up a person as a whole. Upon first glance we may not notice these so much but upon closer inspection of the artwork, and the personality, we slowly become aware of the fragments that make up the whole person. As well as viewing the piece from afar, I want the viewer to take a closer look, inspect the image, to see brush strokes, shapes that make the whole image, in turn the celebrity and the merge between the two.
