ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In southernmost Gobi, sunbeams bounce off the honey-gold dunes, some of which reach 80-300meters high. Constantly shaped and reshaped into gorgeous curved peaks by the restless desert wind, the dunes are also called “Duut Manhan”, or the Singing Sands, from the low humming sound produced. Yet running alongside the radiant dunes is an incongruous sight: a sinuous clear river flanked in places by green pasture, relief for the nomads and their herds living there.
