ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Black is the new colourful. While analysing the concepts of beauty and perfection I decided to create a serie of large paintings depicting black subjects on colourful background. The main idea of the serie is to reflect pure aesthetic through terrifying, sexual and at the same time, childish images. The second idea was to research the influence of color on the viewer. I've found out that the contrast between black and bright colourful shows the most emotional outburst. In my art practice I often use some classic techniques such as oil painting or ceramic sculpturing. But at the same time I am interested to integrate these old-world ways to our reality. I've chosen acrylic paint due to its ability to show the very brightness of color.

Artist Nadia Kazakovtseva began her art career as a child: the first exhibition, she took a part in, was at the State Hermitage Museum during the cultural program "Classical Days" in 2007. The desire to develop in the fine arts led her to the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design to the department of sculpture in 2016. There she combines academic projects with creative search. That is why she decided to spend a semester at Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin, focusing on creating contemporary art projects. Nowadays she works on a research project dedicated to the "proto-object" and "post-object". Stopping at different stages of creation and destruction of the artworks, she balances on the verge between perfection of the form and natural accident. Works from this project were presented in July 2019 at the exhibition on the GAMMA Festival. Nadia also participated in the exhibitions "Light and Form", "Awakening", "Feel On/Off" and in the others exhibitions at the Stieglitz Academy of Art and Design. Also she took a part in online exhibitions "Hold On" and "Home Adventure".
