ABOUT THE ARTWORK

After the dove, Noah sent the kingfisher to find the earth, but he had to fly high into the sky because of the storm. He turned from gray to blue after bathing in the heavenly blue. The fearless kingfisher flew so high that the sun was under him and painted his belly in red-brown tones. When the kingfisher returned, he did not find Noah's ark and still flies in search of it along river coasts, looking for and screaming for Noah. The blue and red colors indicate his courage because he was not afraid to fly high into the blue depths of the sky above the sun.

My name is Alyona Guseva. I am an artist from Krasnodar, Russia creating paintings in realistic manner. I was born in Volgograd in 1991 and graduated from the Volgograd art school. Though I received an engineering education, was engaged in scientific research and business, I continued to paint. The main theme of my art is the delightful world of wild nature: animals, flowers, forests and seascapes. I've always wanted to be an artist. Even before school, I loved to draw on the walls, like most children 3-4 years old, and to paint pictures with colored pencils. It was difficult to buy coloring books in the 90s in my country, so I used my mother's pictures on tracing paper for embroidery. I learned how to copy pictures to paper using window glass and to color them. Then I created my first compositions on sheets of paper using several drawings on tracing paper. In elementary school I started drawing comics about Martians and telling an infinitely long story about their life and adventures. But the real creative life began when I entered art school and studied academic drawing, painting and sculpture. I found myself in the class of a wonderful artist who always said that it was not enough just to be able to draw, it was also very important to develop your imagination, as well as allow yourself to convey feelings and energy through a brush and paints, which the viewer would immediately feel. This is how the painting "Leafmen" appeared. It became the impetus of developing of so strong interest and love for the surrounding world, that I still continue to explore and admire it. The main theme of my art is the world of wildlife: animals, flowers, forests and seascapes. Every shape and every color in nature did not appear by chance. All of them have a history of millions of years and carry information about their ancestors into the distant future. During my student years I became interested in symbolism in art. And organically combined landscapes, thoughts and impressions about scientific research, the origin of life, human relationship and the power of the spirit in my artworks. The turning point in life and art was the birth of my eldest daughter in 2017 with a serious birth injury. And then - the need to undergo rehabilitation for about 3 years to defeat the disease. During this period, I seriously thought about the question "Why do I draw?". Why do I return to canvas and paints every time? And I realized that I couldn't help but draw.
