Konterfekt II Painting

● The work is part of the Konterfekt diploma series, which illustrates my search for an answer to the question "who am I?". ● When painting this picture, I followed the reflection that: "I am the sum of thoughts or gestures of people with whom I am strongly connected", and therefore I reached for successive images of people close to me. I "borrowed" those elements that were more clearly outlined in my memory. The subject of description here is my body, my sister's, mother's and her mother's. ● This representation contains elements similar to the original, and at the same time it is only an image. I wanted it to be similar, yet separate enough from the pattern to make it look like an oil painting. I tried to find a balance between a faithful rendering of a memory and a creative creation. ● Hence the combination of fragments of remembered bodies with fragments of sketches of these memories - ie fragments resembling watercolors. Their form and style reflect the characteristic features of watercolor, such as lightness, transparency and subtlety. And which, in my opinion, are the same as the characteristics of a memory or a mental image.
