About The Artwork

A DANGEROUS ART: KOONANA - QUARANTINE EDITION "A Dangerous Art: Koonana - Quarantine Edition" 100x100cm - Acrylic and oil on canvas - 2020 High quality eucalyptus chassis *View pictures for details that differentiate this work from a "regular" Koonana* If in the first Koonana (please see my artwork page to check it out) I talked about how an intersection of the works of Hirst and Koons generates bananas à la Cattelan, in this special edition of Koonana I seek to aim this intersection for a more optimistic side about art and its use for the good of society. This work intends to, if sold, revert part of this income to donation and fight against Coronavirus. In this way, I added some new elements to it: the dog is wearing a mask and its tail has become a syringe. In addition, the edges are red and the dog is blue, referring to the health professionals who help us so much, especially at this moment. Unfortunately many died. Through these elements and the optimized use of colors, although it also deals with a sad theme (Coronavirus), this work has the mission of bringing help and hope. I want that when you see this work, that you remember that it was a complicated period, but capable of mobilizing society around the common good and rethinking selfish and irresponsible attitudes. We still don't know exactly what the post-Coronavirus world will be like, but we can see that at least working and social relationships have been deeply affected. Ultimately, even global globalization is being rethought, with countries like the USA and even the European Union looking to become less dependent on countries like China and other production chains over which, despite lower costs, they have little or no control . In any case, I sincerely hope that these changes will bring us greater awareness of our "lifestyle" of unrestrained consumption and superficiality towards many aspects of life, including interpersonal relationships. Despite all the inconvenience of this period, forced introspection should lead us to a very positive spiritual evolution in the long run.
