This piece was inspired by my wife, Holly. When she was a little girl, her father would headphones on her and she would love to listen to the Simon & Garfunkel song "Cecilia." Every time she had a chance, she would ask him to play the song, but she didn't know the name of it, so she called it Kumakomet (probably because of the percussion). It's such a vibrant and enthusiastic story, that the name captures the spirit of this piece perfectly. KumaKomet is painted on thin plywood, but has two wood frames. The weight of the painting is about 30 lbs. It has a white wood 3" deep floating frame and is ready to hang.

For all inquiries, email: sleepingdogslie@yahoo.com Eric Guenette is an abstract mixed media painter working in latex, acrylic, spray paint, oil markers, pencil, ink, wine, dirt, spices, fauna and other media on canvas. He also paints primarily with scraps of cut wood and rarely uses brushes. The organic nature of his work is carried through from the structural frames that he constructs from scratch to the drop cloth fabric and other found fabric materials for canvasing. He frames most of the works with clean and simple white painted pine. Hanging hardware is added and all artwork is sold ready to hang. “I feel a strong connection to my grandfather, Marcel, who was a custom golf shoe maker at Footjoy for most of his life in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was a man that could build anything with his hands. I draw upon his spirit as I am working on pieces in my studio garage in the heat and dust. Painting with wood scraps of wood and house paint takes me back to his old wood shop and creates a fully organic process from frame to canvas to paint application. The angled cuts on the scrapers allow for a repetitious motion to scrape and re-apply paint quickly in the same movement, depending on the angle of the stroke. I hope to carry his determined spirit on in my work.” –Eric Guenette Eric Guenette was born in Winter Park, Florida (1967) and grew up in Palm Beach County, Florida area until he moved to Albuquerque in 2009. He is currently residing in Portugal. Guenette has also worked as a professional graphic designer for the last twenty years.
