L’arte della fermentazione o Autoperfezionamento Painting

"L’arte della fermentazione o Autoperfezionamento" ("The art of fermentation or Autoperfectionism") is my homage to René Magritte, one of my biggest teacher and inspiration. I re-interpreted his painting ("The art of living", 1967) with a humoristic approach on the condition of the human being (that holds all its tragedy in his sarcasm itself). Recreating this masterpiece was for me a chance to get in conversation with the famous painter and I felt the bidimensionality of the canvas too restrictive, therefore I sewed with needle and thread the text "It looks like it's comin' around, I escape from reality where I go you follow me, oh lion why so afraid of me?" in order to go beyond and transcend the canvas. The title, with deepest truth of the irony of life, refers to the book "The Confession" by Lev Tolstoj one of his personal diaries where he desperately interrogates himself on the meaning of our existence.
