Portraits of Millennials
[3 in 1: like coffee]:

I wanted to show “my” time through the prism of the portrait. Through the image of people peer into their problems, ideas, feelings, vision of this world now. I created 4 archetypes of modernity. They contain everything that I see in my generation right now.

My letter to you:

This picture is my feminine view of life. This is something that I and my friends, sisters, acquaintances have faced every day since childhood.

These are parenting standards. These are stereotypes of a past era.

In the background is a constant textured welter of requests, demands, intimidation, myths, standards. We step through this judgmental emotional grinder every day. Humbly, slowly, step by step. We try to be better, to be more harmonious, to be wiser, we are trying to clear our mind. Breathe in and go further into the zone of purity, truth and the real us. [On the right is an abstract waterfall. Water as an element of purification and power. The background is like the emotional inner background of a lyrical hero, as in literary works. His reaction to the outside world].

A bright graphic inscription is a cry from the outside. This is all that girls shout in the back. From whistles of admiration, unsolicited compliments that turn into envy, a desire to shout out her opinion, to assert oneself due to her silence, to dirty gossip that damages you not even as a girl, but as a person in the first place.

These cries are the very attitude of people towards you, thoughtless, stereotypical, based on gender that you did not choose. You were born with him. And you do not see a single reason why you are dumber, less ambitious, no more capable in this life than others.

Understanding, soft, kind, loving and insanely strong, because you do it all from an honest heart, despite everything that you hear in response.

Mari Boro - philologist, photographer, artist. Member of the International federation of Artists. Mari is a bright representative of the Russian millennials who were brought up on the remnants of Soviet traditions, but at the same time caught rapid technological and digital revolution. Mari lives on important and urgent problems through the game form of cartoonish images, thereby reducing emotionality, as it were, transferring it to another plane of unreality. This helps to look at the situation more objectively, with humor, to reduce the strain. Leading motives of her projects - this is the self-identification of a person of the "new time", the philosophy of humanism, the nature of modern society and ethical exacerbation. Mari Boro is a reflection of her time. As it really is. Seeking, contradictory, emotional, rebellious, not understanding the "framework" and with an inner strain.
