La Dame de Brassempouy, a fragmentary ivory figurine from the Upper Palaeolithic, discovered in a cave at Brassempouy, France, in 1892. I painted the figurine in early 2017. It was part of my "Artifacts" series that I created for a solo art show that was held during Spring of 2017 in my hometown, Cologne. Archaeology, Art and Movies have always interested me. I created my "Artifacts" series to feature a variety of real world historical artifacts as well as movie props that are supposed to show artifacts of ancient and secret origin. The intention was to show both real world artifacts and ficticious movie props with the same level of attention to detail and realism and to blur the line between reality and fantasy. I painted the figurine with Airbrush, Acrylics and Colored pencils on gessoed MDF hard board panel. A picture hanger is attached to the backside.
