ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A tranquil water scene is depicted with colorful buildings lining the far shore. In the foreground, a small boat floats on the water, and the reflection of the pastel sky adds to the serene atmosphere. On my first trip to Venice, I rented a room in a small hotel on Guidecca. When I got there, I thought I'd made a mistake. La Guidecca is a small island very close to the main island and St. Marks Square. On my third trip, I'd learned to love the vaporattos, and I went back to La Guidecca for its quiet serenity and hometown feel.
