"La rivière de l'enfance" (translates 'the childhood river') was realised in the French countryside near Chartres in the summer of 2018. It is part of my '[WORLD]' Series. '[WORLD]' regroups several series of small works from 2011 until today. All of them come from a series of sketchbooks I carry with me in every country I live in or visit. Each painting captures the essence of a place, a vibe, or just something that is worth painting. Each sketchbook is handmade in a long-established Parisian craft shop and uses Japanese and Italian paper along with Egyptian binding. This ambitious watercolour depicts a hidden river in a heavenly looking place. The scene was painted as spring rose and the reflection of nature and light on the water inspired me. Personal Backstory: As a kid, I spent a lot of time playing there with the neighbourhood kids and I came back with one of them to see it again and make this work. TECHNICAL DETAILS Some parts of the painting have metallic colour 'gansai' (Japanese type of watercolour with iridescent properties) and rare liquid metal which gives the painting another beautiful dimension under different lighting. Sold as-is, the two pages of the sketchbook are bind together. The signature is hidden in the artwork itself. You can opt to have the artwork shipped mounted in an elegant black brushed metal frame for an additional $70. The frame is 18x24" and 1 3/8" thick. Please specify this to your Saatchi advisor when you purchase the work.

Best known for his cross-cultural approach, Oscar Lett stands out by his bold looking paintings prominently using black and contrasting metallic colours. Based in NYC, the Parisian artist loves to embrace the influences of the countries he lived in. After moving to London to study at Central Saint Martins, Oscar then moved to Kyoto as he sought teaching from the masters of Nihonga (traditional Japanese painting). Appropriating each culture and their aesthetics, O.L. developed a unique style depicting a world where opposites can coexist and where people overcome their struggles in impossible urban jungles. Working in large-scale and always craving bigger, Oscar naturally moved to New York in 2016 and made the street his new playground. Since then Lett has been developing a wide portfolio of murals in Europe and the U.S., allowing his fine art and street art practices to inspire one another.
