About The Artwork

This unique, delicate and passionate oil painting depicts the Virgin Mary in her pregnancy holding a traditional red coral branch, symbol of Life, Love and Christ's Passion. Christ's presence and blessing can be observed on the right side of Her womb. The Mother is accompanied by two cherubs, one with open eyes and the other with his eyes closed as to represent the traditional symbol of life and eternal rest: nascendo - morimur. They are both holding a double halo above Her head: the Sun (with the Holy Ghost) and the Moon. The Virgin is wearing her traditional blue color. This painting is 100% original and like every oil painting by Paul Armesto it has been delicately painted using the old master's layer technique with premium quality material meant to last a lifetime and more without alteration. Painted on linen canvas.
