Daniel Joseph Caissie was born in New-Brunswick, Canada. He grew up in Rogersville, NB, Canada. He began painting at age 17 in high school. He was inspired to start painting after discovering the artist JMW Turner. Since then other influences came by like Robert De Niro Sr, Milton Avery, Jackson Pollock and Milton Resnick. He is interested by imperfections, leaving a element of mystery to himself and the viewers. At the beginning of 2015, he was diagnosed with narcolepsy and cataplexy. Those conditions forced him to stop doing his previous job as a commercial truck driver. Since being off work, he has completed over 100 different paintings. He works with acrylic, spray paint, enamel and household paint. Daniel enjoys painting in a accidental style. He has no plan of what it will look like when starts. He is planning on doing this for the rest of his life as it is his passion. It has become a way for him to communicate and expresse his feelings. Having cataplexy makes it hard for him to show his true feelings with the world because strong emotions can make him collapse. He is also very passionnated about music but does not play any musical instruments.
