ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I hope you will experience a moment of reflection as you ponder the lines and colors. I chose acrylic and expressionism because I enjoy the magic of what the paint and lines can do. I also enjoy that I don't know what will show up for me at the end as I have no true plan when I begin. For me, red represents richness, soil, strength and confidence. This painting began as an experiment with pouring warm colors together in a contained area. After it was complete and I stepped back the linework reminded me of a haze of a mountainous region and the warm area felt like those wonderful cross-sections of layers of the earth which always intrigued me as a child.

STATEMENT Beginning with a certain amount of chaos and energy to activate the canvas a dialog is initiated. This dialog includes both language/writing and intuitive marks through the use of various drawing media/tools. Then splashes of paint and gentle washes of color are added. It is my intention to bring order, balance and calm to the surface by using multiple layers of pigment. The original “chaotic” gestures can be seen peeking through; just enough to create interest and mystery. BIO Internationally collected Atlanta based artist, Juanita Bellavance, uses her mastery of color and technique to create nature-inspired paintings that provide solace from life’s strife and turmoils. Her art is informed by her study of music and her connection to spirit. Juanita is largely self-taught and is inspired by masters such as Diebenkorn, J.M.W. Turner, Giorgio Morandi, William Thon and others.
