Large Pears #43 Painting

This series of Large Pears began almost 30 years ago in 1996, but despite that I am still discovering new aspects of this mold. At the heart of this series lies an exploration of the pear as a symbol of abundance, fertility, and sensuality. These "Large Pears", magnified beyond their natural proportions, transcend their mundane existence to become emblems of contemplation and introspection. The interplay of light and shadow gives the simple fruit an unusual atmosphere, evoking a sense of transience and fleeting beauty. One cannot help but reflect on the transitory nature of existence, reflected in the ripeness of the pear standing on the threshold of decay.
